Basco, Gateway to Batanes Islands

    On my first  article on Philippine Travels for Places Section of Biyaheng Kariton, I’d like to introduce the municipality of Basco, the capital of Batanes and gateway to the Batanes Group of Islands. This will be followed by  additional articles on the other parts of the island as well as the other islands of the province. Enjoy! -BLM

     My  2nd day at work for Ace Logistics is defined as monumental in my life’s experience on Philippine Travel. The company sent me to the northern most Place of the country, on a cool month end of January.  The island of Batan. From the plane’s window,  I saw Basco, the Capital of Batanes Province  sweeping circle. Expecting a wild terrain, I was quite surprisde on not finding oil cans s on opposite sides of the runway. There were no thick bushes of trees and overgrown vegetation covering sides of a hard road landing strip. As the plane circled around  for approach,  I can see G.I Roofing and concrete roads surrounded by what looks like manicured Bermuda grass. From the air, the runway looks properly paved with good concrete, clean and functioning as any airport should be, though it is short and can only accommodate small aircraft like the 32-seater I was buckled in.
